THE STX EXPERIENCE
Squad STX is a back‑to‑basics, military‑style Texas overnight camp for boys craving real outdoor adventure. Boys learn camping, leadership, and survival skills from experienced Army officers in a fun, supportive environment. They leave more capable, more confident, and ready for what comes next.
Back to Basics
100% outside. Campers sleep outside, cook over stoves, and navigate by map and compass—not GPS.
Small Squads, Real Responsibility
Campers work together in small squads with clear roles and responsibilities. They learn to lead missions, make decisions, and look out for their teammates.
Real Adventure & Skills
Laser tag missions, night hikes, shelter building, campfire cooking, land navigation. Real outdoor skills that build focus, teamwork, and grit.
ROTC Prep
Gain basic experience for future ROTC field training exercises (FTX), including field craft and land navigation.
Unplugged, Dirty, and Happy
Our camp is fully outdoors from start to finish. Campers sleep under the stars or tarps, cook over stoves or fires, eat MREs, carry their own gear, and build genuine camaraderie as they work together. It’s simple, tough, and incredibly rewarding. Boys return home dirty, sweaty, and tired, but with a greater sense of self and the confidence to tackle any challenge.
No Experience Required
Squad STX is a voluntary, high‑intensity outdoor adventure camp in Texas for boys who want a tough, fun experience. No prior camping or outdoor experience is needed, just a can‑do attitude. Many boys attend Squad STX to build field skills that support future JROTC or ROTC goals.
Safety Is Always the Priority
Our camp is intentionally rugged. Campers hike miles in real Texas heat, carry their own gear, and sleep outdoors. At the same time, every mission is supervised, every activity is planned, and every boy is supported. Our staff are trained in wilderness first aid and follow strict safety protocols.
